The history of the hotel began in 1992 when the founders discovered a unique site at the top of a cliff in the Algarve region and began to create a dream. The hotel is in the center of the Algarve and covers a large area. It is close to many interesting places but still feels remote and offers lots of privacy. It has a unique beach right below the hotel and another bigger beach a short drive away. The hotel presents an extraordinary gastronomic adventure, a multi-sensory experience with 6 bars and 10 restaurants offering a different cuisine at every meal. From dining on the beach, through rustic Portuguese plates to special culinary creations in a restaurant with two Michelin stars. Diversity is the key to the hotel’s culinary philosophy – from sunny Mediterranean produce, through rural cooking of the Algarve to clean and modern Japanese cuisine. The impressive wine cellar equipped with more than 11,000 bottles guarantees the perfect accompaniment to every meal. This is the largest private wine collection in Portugal, surrounded by the original architecture about 8 meters underground, with the perfect temperature and humidity conditions required to store the best wines from Portugal and all over the world in an intimate and unique atmosphere.
